Project Description

Heartsease at Shallotte is an 83-unit single family lifestyle rental community to be built in the Myrtle Beach Metropolitan Statistical Area of coastal North Carolina. Heartsease will be located in Shallotte, the hub of Brunswick County, North Carolina. The site is less than one mile from the Ocean Highway/US Route 17—a thoroughfare which connects Atlantic Coast communities from Florida to Virginia—and only a half a mile from US Route 17 Business which serves as Shallotte’s Main Street.

The property will consist of 83 Craftsman-style cottages on one lot. The low-density community—at 4 units per acre—will offer modern, highly functional single-level living spaces, detached garages, private yards and driveways. Amenities will include exterior home and landscape maintenance, 3 acres of community open space, a clubhouse with leasing offices, activity spaces and a fitness center, trails, a swimming pool, and game court areas.

Heartsease will be a lifestyle rental community serving residents who choose renting over home ownership—a rapidly growing market, particularly among seniors. This concept community will offer customers all the benefits of a luxury multifamily lifestyle—clubhouse, pool, game courts, community green space, on-site management, landscaping and maintenance—without sacrificing the advantages of a single-family home.

During site design for Heartsease, the primary vision has been to unite these private cottages within a dynamic neighborhood experience. To that end, all homes have thoughtfully conceived front porch and patio spaces which face onto parks interspersed throughout the property and connected by miles of contiguous walkways.
